In 2014, a year and a half after her big chop, Tynee sought safe, nontoxic hair products for herself and her 2-year-old daughter. She suspected that harsh chemicals in store-bought products were weighing down her natural curls and leaving a residue. The brand she used for her daughter seemed to stunt hair growth, prompting her to research alternatives.

Over the next few years, Tynee developed recipes for Coconut & Avocado Leave-In Conditioner, Gold In Growth Hair Oil, Tea Tree Purifying Shampoo, Peppermint Moisturizing Conditioner, and Hair Pomade. These natural products helped strengthen and grow both her and her daughter's hair, enhancing their natural curl patterns.

After six years of maintaining and starting others’ locs, Tynee decided to lock her own hair in December 2016. However, she faced a challenge: she hadn’t created products for starting and maintaining locs. She mistakenly turned to the most popular loc brand of the time, which contained chemicals her hair hadn't encountered in years. She was disappointed with her first locs, as they became stiff and developed a lot of build-up in just a couple weeks.

By week 3, she had given up on her hair and decided to comb out her locs. Unfortunately, her hair was damaged from the products she had used, so she "big chopped" again. After that, she found new natural ingredients online that could help lock her hair. With this knowledge and what she already knew, Tynee created Tynee’s Loc Love Shea & Aloe Loc’ing Cream. On February 25, 2017, she tried the locking process again and fell in love with her shiny, healthy locs. As a loctician, she was thrilled with the results and asked her clients if she could use the Loc’ing Cream on their locs too, which they loved as well.
